Mbarara City FC vs Nyamityobora FC
The Mbarara derby is expected to raise dust with pride, revenge at stake as Mbarara City host rivals Nyamityobora FC at Kakyeka stadium on Friday.
Nyamityobora FC staged a comeback in the first leg to win the game played at Wankulukuku 2-1 and the target for Mbarara City will therefore be to seek revenge.
The Ankole Lions have been in beast mode in their recent engagements including their last outing that saw them win 2-0 away against Maroons FC.
Under the guidance of coach Livingstone Mbabazi, Mbarara City FC have transformed into a formidable team currently third on the log with 32 points.
Their performance at home is also a fact for the Banyakare to worry. Mbarara City is unbeaten at home this season winning seven of the nine games.
The Ankole Lions have struck a balance between their defence and attacking line making the team balanced and a hard nut to truck.
Steven Othieno, Hillary Mukundane and goalkeeper Ali Kimera form an impenetrable back line while Paul Mucurezi, Ivan Eyam, Makweth Wol and Jude Ssemugabi offer presence going forward.
Nyamityobora FC on the other hand are still struggling in the drop zone and will perhaps need to work hard to fend off the relegation monster.
They come into the derby on the back of a 1-0 loss to champions but will hope, the performance exhibited in their 4-1 win against Police FC at the start of the second round is replicated.
In the other game to be played on Friday, flying URA FC that has won the last two games will take on struggling Maroons FC at Mandela national stadium. This is the last game that URA FC head coach Sam Ssimbwa will be serving his four match touchline ban.
